Uttarakhand Govt. is all set to start searching for ‘Sanjivani Booti’, the life saver herb from Ramayana.
Sanjivani Booti, the magical herb from Ramayana which has the power to revive the dead person, is something we all have heard about.
The Ramayana describes story of Lord Rama and his life, his Vanvaas, abduction of Seeta by Demon king Ravana and the duel between Rama and Ravana to bring Seeta back to Ayodhya. We have heard many intriguing stories of battle between the Rama and the Demon King, one such story is the resurrection of Laxman, younger brother of Lord Rama.
When Ravana’s son Meghnaad hurls a powerful weapon at Laxmana, the latter gets mortally wounded. On the suggestion of Lankan Royal physician Sushena, Lord Hanuman is sent to fetch the Magical Herb called ‘Sanjivani Booti’.
Hanuman, not able to pick the needed herb, decided to take back the entire Mount Sumeru hill to battlefield. The correct herb was by identified by Sushena and he was able to revive Laxman.
The Sanjivani Booti is lost in the long strides of time, But, it has not deterred the curious minds to stop looking for it. There has been many papers and theories about the existence of this magical herb.
Now, the Government of Uttarakhand has also jumped in searching for the herb.
Starting from August, a team of scientists would start searching for Sanjivani Booti in the Dronagiri range of Himalayas near the Chinese border. A whopping some of 250 million INR is supposed to be invested in the search operation.
Interestingly, the Central BJP government is not interested in budgeting the operation. The state government will have to bear all the expenses.
However, With so many shrubs and trees filling the entire range of Himalaya, the chances of finding herb are very scant.
We sincerely hope that the money invested should bring out some encouraging results.
