Why the incident of a Mother and Daughter getting thrashed for sheltering puppies should worry us?
In a shameful incident in Pune, a mother and daughter duo were beaten up for what we agree as a ‘humanitarian act’.
Sonali saraf and her teenage daughter Sejal, were guilty of harboring two stray puppies in their home. A resident of Mahatma society of Pune, Sonali and Sejal, brought home the two puppies when they saw them wandering on the street, searching for food. They fed the puppies with some milk and buiscuits.
This, however, did not go well with their neighbor Milind Kale. Kale predicted that the puppies would be a source of nuisance in the society and opposed this move of saraf family. He also called the Municipality department to take care of the puppies.
Municipality came but they had to return empty-handed as Sarafs did not allowed the puppies to be taken away. Seeing this, Kale lost his temper and assaulted the mother-daughter duo. He used his shoes for thrashing the duo and also banged the daughters head onto a wall, breaking her jaw.
This whole incident was captured on the camera and the video went viral on internet.
See the video here:
Kale was arrested immediately after a police complaint. Police later revealed that Kale was unemployed and his wife is an officer in Income Tax Department.
While the video of this incident is being shared by many people, we need to really think on the raising violence in our society.
The mother-daughter duo were helping needy and homeless animals. They should be punished for this humanitarian act of society. How harboring and nurturing other souls makes them guilty of a crime.
Here are a list of reasons why this should be worrisome for us. For starters, Mr. Kale was not an authorized person to take any action involving violence. Second, he should not have assaulted women for showing his bravery. There are other means for this, but beating someone is not one of them.
Third, for the onlookers, have our minds grown so narrow that we enjoy watching someone getting thrashed and record it on our camera phone to be shared later. Had people shown courage to come forward and stop this scuffle, the duo would not have been humiliated in public.
This incident raises a serious question, are we really growing into monstrous hulk who disrupts everything when he gets angry? Are we open-minded enough to accommodate others beliefs?
